Summer Reading Program: Trapped in Time
The Old Forge Library invites children and families to take a journey back to the prehistoric world during its "Trapped in Time" Summer Reading Program
Thursday, July 30, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Part of the library's annual Summer Reading Program, this special afternoon brings this year's statewide theme, "Unearth a Story," to life through hands-on activities that combine science, creativity, and imagination.
Children will create their own Tar Pit Slime, mixing glue, water, coloring, and fun additions such as miniature dinosaurs and rocks to recreate the look and feel of an ancient tar pit. Participants will also make Amber Fossil Magnets, using clear stones, fossil images, and paint pens to craft keepsakes inspired by prehistoric discoveries preserved in amber.
Designed for children ages 4–10, the program encourages young explorers to learn through interactive, creative experiences while fostering a love of reading and discovery. Older children are welcome to participate, and younger children may attend with an adult.
