Third Annual community Pride Celebration slated for June 26 at the Old Forge Library

Join friends and neighbors on Friday, June 26, from 4 to 7 pm. at the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., for their Third Annual Community Pride Celebration. This festive, family-friendly event is free and will take place on the library lawn.

The celebration is part of a nationwide tradition of events held in June to honor and support LGBTQIA+ communities. Pride Month is a time to raise awareness, promote human rights, and advocate for equality, dignity, and inclusion.

Guests will enjoy a picnic-style party featuring a mac and cheese bar and a baked potato bar, along with plenty of cake. Music will be provided by DJ Jerry Dee and his Deeplex mobile sound system, setting the tone for an afternoon of dancing and fun. The library will also host craft activities for all ages, including bracelet making, sand art, and keychain crafts that guests can take home.

A variety of local and regional vendors and organizations will be on hand with information, giveaways, and handmade goods. Participating groups include the Herkimer County Office for the Aging, Catholic Charities, LivingADK, and a number of local crafters, vendors and artisans. The Library’s neighbors at Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church will also be there to offer cards and candy.

Library Director Linda Weal shared, “Our community has always welcomed a variety of visitors from around the world and is known for its hospitality. We’re proud to host this celebration again and demonstrate what a welcoming community looks like—plus, we get to dance.”

The Pride Celebration is generously funded by the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties in conjunction with UpMobility Foundation.

Whether you come to show support, celebrate, learn, eat, dance, or simply have fun, everyone is welcome.
