Hiking the 7th Lake Mountain Trail
Make note that this trail does not go to the summit of Seventh Lake Mountain. Starting from the Moose River Plains Road you can hike this trail to the 8th Lake State Campground if one was so inclined, if you spot a car. The trail is simply a corridor trail connecting two communities, and it does continue on to Raquette Lake after it reaches near the Eighth Lake Campground. As a hiking trail, it can be used as an afternoon stroll or a dog walking trail.
A tip: Buy the NatGeo Adirondack Map #744 Northville-Raquette Lake to research this trail.
Gravel biking
The trail is multi-use, and gravel bikers can utilize it for a calm half-day of riding.
Birding
There are a couple wetlands along the way offering interesting views out over the marshes.
7th Lake Mountain Trail in the winter
This trail is also a snowmobile trail. It is wide and scenic. If you decide to cross-country ski or snowshoe on it, you will have to start from a spot other than the Moose River Plains Road, since it is only open to snowmobile traffic in the winter. Be prepared for all winter conditions.
How to get there
From the intersection of Route 28 and Limekiln Road in Inlet follow Limekiln Road to the Moose River Plains Road. Follow the Moose River Plains Road for around 2.75 miles to the trailhead on the left.
