Hiking to Icehouse Pond

This trail is designated as a handicap accessible trail. There is one hill on the way back to the pond where wheelchairs will have a bit more difficulty, but there is a rest stop part way up the hill. The pond has a designated primitive tent site and a small beach for easy launch of a canoe for paddling.

Icehouse Pond in the winter

This is inaccessible in the winter, unless you use a snowmobile to get to the trailhead.

Fishing

Shoreline fishing is limited, but faint paths do follow the shore for small stretches. There is boat access by way of a canoe or kayak launch, following the gentle 0.4 mile carry. Icehouse Pond gets little attention from fishing, but it is rumored the brook trout fishing is decent.

Special regulations: Always follow state fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional NYSDEC office. Use and/or possession of bait fish is prohibited at Icehouse Pond.

How to get there

From the intersection of Route 28 and Limekiln Road in Inlet, follow Limekiln Road and turn left on Moose River Plains Road. Follow Moose River Plains Road to Otter Brook Road, which is the second right. Follow that for 0.8 miles to the Icehouse Pond trailhead on the left.
