Hiking to Indian Lake

From the end of Indian River Road at the trailhead parking you will pass through boulders blocking the way from vehicular traffic. At about 1.6 miles from the car the Muskrat Trail will come in on the left. Be sure to check this out if you have the chance, it is quite nice. Continue on the old forest road as you pass by some lovely wetlands with Indian Lake Mountain looming in the back. The old road eventually ends at 2.3 miles from the trailhead. There is a 0.2 mile spur to Indian Lake on the right. The spur drops a slight bit and continues to the shore of the lake where there is a great place for a picnic and camping at a designated primitive tent site. Indian Lake Mountain stands sentinel behind the pond.

Indian Lake in the winter

Access to the trailhead is closed in the winter, only being reached by snowmobile. This hike is not recommended during the winter season.
