The Annual Open Mic for Writers
This event is a beloved, long-standing favorite of participants of the library’s Summer Writers Workshop, and it is open to all writers and members of the public. It offers an opportunity for area writers to share their work with a live audience, and for listeners to enjoy being read to while supporting local creative voices.
Dr. Elizabeth Threadgill will assist in hosting the evening. Threadgill is the leader of this year’s Summer Writers Workshop. She is an Associate Professor of English at Utica University, where she coordinates the Eugene Paul Nassar Poetry Prize and co-directs the Jackson Lunch Hour Reading Series.
Writers do not need to be enrolled in the workshop to participate. Anyone with original work to share is welcome. Community members who wish to listen and enjoy the readings are also encouraged to attend.
Those interested in reading may register by calling the library at 315-369-6008 or by emailing oldforge@midyork.org. Registration is appreciated for planning purposes, but walk-ins and audience members are always welcome.
