Community Banner Project to Commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary at the Old Forge Library

Community Banner Project

Join the Old Forge Library in creating a community banner to commemorate America's 250th!

With this collaborative Community Banner Project, participants will create decorative fabric squares that will be joined together into a commemorative masterpiece honoring key American holidays.

Project Details:

  • The project kicks off on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, from 11 am to 1 pm

  • Focus on Memorial Day–themed designs.

  • As a special bonus, attendees will also have the opportunity to craft a smaller personal door banner to take home.

  • The library will provide all necessary materials,

    • Including 10-inch fabric squares, stencils, paint, patches, ribbons, and sewing supplies.

  • Participants who cannot attend the live sessions are encouraged to stop by the library to pick up a square and complete their design at home.

Additional Workshop Dates:

  • Independence Day Themes: Friday, July 3 ( 11 am to 1 pm) and Tuesdays, June 30 & July 7 (2 – 3 pm)

  • Labor Day Themes: Friday, September 4 ( 11 am to 1 pm)

The completed banner will be officially unveiled during the library’s Veterans Day Brunch on November 9, standing as a tribute to the community’s shared history and spirit.

All library programs are free and open to the public. For more information, please visit the Old Forge Library or call 315-369-600
