Guests of all ages will also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on craft activities, including designing custom pride tote bags and bracelets. Organizers say the event is designed to be joyful, welcoming, and accessible to everyone in the community.
Several local artists, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and community organizations will be set up on the lawn with information tables, giveaways, handmade goods, and resources celebrating inclusion and connection throughout the Adirondack region.
Held during Pride Month, the event is part of a nationwide tradition honoring LGBTQ+ communities and promoting dignity, equality, kindness, and visibility for all people. Library staff says the annual celebration continues to grow each year as more community members come together in a positive and supportive environment.
Organizers describe the evening as an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, share a meal, connect with neighbors, and celebrate the spirit of community while ensuring every person feels welcomed and valued. Generous Funding for this event has been provided by the Equity Grant Round, a collaborative effort of the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and UpMobility Foundation to address systemic racism and socioeconomic inequity.
