Local Art Reception at the Old Forge Library

Local Art Reception

The Old Forge Library will host Local ART, a group exhibit celebrating artists who love the Adirondacks and our community, from July 2 through August 1 at the library.

The exhibit’s opening reception will take place from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, July 2.

  • The reception is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Local ART features two-dimensional artwork in a wide variety of mediums, including photography, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, and collage.

Artists represented in the exhibit range in age and include amateur to professional artists, and everyone in between. Some live in the area year-round, while others are seasonal residents. The exhibit reflects the creativity and diversity of the Adirondack arts community and offers something for everyone. The exhibit is intentionally held during the height of the summer season, both to welcome the widest possible mix of local and seasonal artists and to continue Mirnie Kashiwa’s longtime tradition of creating a community art show that brings as many people together as possible.

Library Director Linda Weal said, "The library has always been a gathering place for stories and ideas, so it feels incredibly natural to bring our local art community into that mix. Walking through the building and seeing all these different community perspectives on the walls really shows how connected and vibrant the Adirondacks are."
